Hellebore can be found blooming when much else in the cemetery has fallen to winter sleep. The flowers come in many colours, but the most striking may be the deep, dark purples. Very poisonous, and very beautiful; they symbolise a troubled heart, scandals and secrets untold.
In Victorian times, flowers spoke where words could not. Through a practice known as ‘floriography’, flowers had their own language. Every bloom and colour variation held a new meaning.
This pin is part of a collaboration with Coral Nathan 'The Serene Cemetery' and was successfully funded through Kickstarter 🖤
